Street art has been booming for several years now and numerous artworks have emerged all over the world. As awareness-raising tools, they break down the symbolic borders separating the general public from the art world and transform the city into an exhibition space.
After the two “Kosmopolite Art Tour” festival editions organised in Louvain-la-Neuve in 2012 and 2015, the city of Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve is once again joining forces with UCLouvain and the Farm Prod collective. The goal is to enrich the artistic heritage of the municipality through the creation of 7 monumental street art pieces and a series of stencilled interventions.

The different artistic interventions will be carried out in three periods:

As the cultural hub of the Walloon Brabant region, the city of Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve has art in all its forms in its DNA. The city is a lively and ever-changing place, where numerous multidisciplinary artistic projects are born and developed.
It is therefore quite logical that it supports this Fresh Paint project, which is in line with the idea of the development of public art, accessible to all. It is thanks to the political will and the very important financial means that the City of Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve has invested, that this Fresh Paint project could become a reality, in collaboration with the University and the Farm Prod collective.
The University of Louvain has the ambition to be a breeding ground for the society of tomorrow. It believes that a university of the future, which aims to train citizens capable of understanding the complexity of the world, will find inspiration and meaning in culture. As drivers of creativity and producers of tools that can spark free-thinking and possibilities, artists can help the university to renew its primary vocation: to be an incubator for creation, innovation and transformation. It is therefore only natural that UCLouvain is involved in the Fresh Paint project, where young artists can express their talent on the walls of the university and stimulate the imagination of the academic community.
Farm Prod collective has been active in the field of urban arts since 2003. Coming from the same artistic background, every member has, over time, developed a personal universe and has also nourished a very rich collaborative work. Whether it’s gallery exhibitions, performances, the creation of monumental murals or the organisation of artistic events, the members of the collective have created a strong visual identity, both in Belgium and abroad.
